Avraham Golomb (1888-1982), born in Stravnik, Lithuania. Thinker and educator. Immigrated to Israel in the early 1930s, engaged in education at Mikveh Israel School and Ben-Sheman Youth Village. He moved to Canada where he ran a school, another to Mexico City and finally to the United States.
Click for a larger image Baruch Charney Vladeck (1886-1938), was born in Dokur, Belarus. Labor leader and director of the Jewish newspaper "The Forward". As an activist in the "Bond" movement he was banned, but before being sent to Siberia he was saved by the revolution of 1905. In 1908 he immigrated to the United States, where he became a socialist political activist, and even elected to the New York City Council.
Click for a larger image Heszel Klepfisz (1910-2004), born in Zyrardow, Poland. Educator, journalist and author. Fought in the Free Polish Army against the Germans. Later he was active in Great Britain, the United States, Panama and Israel.
Click for a larger image Ben Zion Goldberg (1895-1972), was born in Halshany, Belarus. of the pen of Benjamin Waife, journalist and editor and regular columnist in newspapers in the United States to which he immigrated in 1907.
Click for a larger image Saul Raskin (1878-1966), was born in Prymorsk, Ukraine. Painter, journalist and writer. His main occupation was painting, especially illustrations of holy books. After visiting Israel he wrote a book with his paintings about the landscapes in Israel.
Click for a larger image Itshe Goldberg (1904-2006), born in Opatów, Poland. A childrens writer in Yiddish who was also involved in poetry, literary criticism and journalism. In 1920 he immigrated to Canada, and in the same year he moved to the United States. He was close to the socialist and radical circles.
