The Catholic church built in the first half of the 18th century was designed by Vincenzo Sinatra and Rosario Gagliardi.
The church is dedicated to Francis of Assisi who founded the religious order of the Franciscans and was born in the city of Assisi in Italy.
(On the plaque his name appears as Immaculate Francis of Assisi)
