NOTO

PALAZZO DUCEZIO

DUCEZIO PALACE

It is the city hall of Noto and its construction began around the mid-18th century based on a project by the architect Vincenzo Sinatra, who was inspired by French palaces.
The upper floor was built in the 1950s. The façade of the original floor consists of a portico with arches supported by pillars on which half-columns rest; the central arches form a semicircle that extends over the main avenue.
The Hall of Mirrors, inside, is rich in stuccos and precious furnishings.

Comments:
The city of Noto and several other cities in the Val di Noto region (southeast Sicily), were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2002 mainly because of the late Baroque style that characterizes many of their sites.

The palace, whose construction began in 1746 and ended in 1830, was designed by Vincenzo Sinatra and is currently used as the town hall.
