In Memory of Auxiliary Firewoman Yvonne Green who died near this site killed by enemy action on duty with four others as Firewatchers at Chelsea Old Church on the night of 16th / 17th April 1941.
All five names are remembered together on a memorial stone in the entrance to Chelsea Old Church.
The plaque is located at the place where Yvonne Green (1911-1941), who was a driver in the AFS - Auxiliary Fire Service, a body established within the Civil Defense in 1938, was killed. Green, along with 4 other firefighters, was killed by a German bomb that fell on the Chelsea Old Church in in World War II.
