One of the statues in the Tuileries Gardens. The statue was initially created by Julien Roux for the Grand Théâtre d’Angers (Maine-et-Loire region - the area where he lived), according to an order made in 1868, and was completed in 1871 when the statue was placed at the inauguration of the theater (probably it was a plaster statue). The marble statue was made in 1874 and placed in the Tuileries Gardens in 1875. The statue is 2.24 meters tall
The statue shows the figure of Thalia, the muse responsible for comedy, in her typical form when she holds a comic mask.
