The statue commemorates Charles James Napier (1782-1853), a general in the British army who was later in the army of Bombay (part of the British military force that ruled India) in which he led the conquest of Sindh, and was the governor of this province.
The statue was made by George Gammon Adams and was placed in 1855-6
