The statue is dedicated to Major General Sir Henry Havelock, who is best known for his connection to India, and the recapture of Cawnpore after the Indian Mutiny in 1857. The sculpture created by William Behnes, and revealed to the public in 1861. This is the first sculpture made from photography.
