HaShayarot
The armed convoys to Jerusalem were the principal means of transportation to the besieged capital and other isolated areas during the initial months of the War of Independence until the Declaration of the State in May 1948. Following the heroic Nachshon initiative and the breakthrough of the Burma road, convoys could safely and regularly make their way up to Jerusalem.
