לאחר מלחמת העולם הראשונה הוענק השלטון בעבר הירדן לעבדאללה, בנו השני של חוסיין בן עלי מלך חיג’אז. בפגישה חשאית שנערכה בירושלים, במרס 1921, הוצע לו לעמוד בראש אמירות עבר הירדן המזרחי. תחת שלטון המנדט הבריטי, והוא היה לאמיר עבר הירדן. עם מתן העצמאות לעבר הירדן, ב-1946, הוכתר עבדאללה למלך הממלכה האשמית של עבר הירדן.

بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى ، مُنحت السلطة بعد الأردن لعبدالله ، الابن الثاني للحسين بن علي ملك الحجاز. في اجتماع سري عقد في القدس في آذار (مارس) 1921 ، عُرض عليه أن يرأس البيانات في شرق الأردن. تحت حكم الانتداب البريطاني ، وأصبح أميراً في جميع أنحاء الأردن. مع منح الاستقلال تجاه الأردن ، في عام 1946 ، توج عبد الله ملكًا للمملكة الهاشمية عبر الأردن.

After World War I, the British appointed Abdullah, the second son of Hussein Ibn Ali, king of the Hijaz, to rule Transjordan. At a secret meeting in Jerusalem in March 1921, it was proposed. that Abdullah become head of the Emirate of Transjordan, under British Mandate rule. When Transjordan received independence in 1946 he was crowned king of the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan.

ב-1936 נכבשה אתיופיה על ידי הצבא האיטלקי וקיסר אתיופיה, היילה סילאסי, גורש מארצו. במשך חמש שנים. הוא התגורר בבית שרכש בשכונת טלביה בירושלים, אליה הגיע מחיפה ברכבת עם קרון טרקלין מפואר והתקבל בכבוד מלכים.

In 1936, Ethiopia was conquered by the Italian army and the Ethiopian emperor, Haile Selassie, was exiled. He lived for five years in a house he purchased in Jerusalem’s Talbiyeh neighborhood. He traveled to Jerusalem from Haifa on a train with a fine saloon car, and was welcomed with royal honors.

Sign No. 50 in a series of signs placed on or around lighting poles, including the history of the old railway line to Jerusalem, along which its route extends the HaMesila (Railway) Park.

As was done on many signs in Jerusalem, an attempt was made to corrupt and hide the text in Arabic for nationalist reasons. For this reason, the text has been translated from the Hebrew source, so that there may be changes between the original text in the Arabic language and that which appears on the website.
