On the sign:

THE POET, AUTHOR, TRANSLATOR AND EDITOR AHARON AMIR LIVED & WORKED IN THIS HOUSE
The sign is in the house where Aharon Amir lived - a poet, translator and writer, born in Kaunas, Lithuania (1923-2008), immigrated to Israel in 1933. Best known as a translator, for which he won the Israel Prize (2003), he also won the Tschernihovsky Prize for Masterpiece Translations (1951). He was one of the founders of the "Canaanites" (Young Hebrews) movement that advocated breaking away from Diaspora Judaism, and establishing a "Hebrew" nation while relying on the peoples who lived in Israel in the past. In this framework, he founded and edited the movement bulletin Aleph. He also founded and edited the literary magazine "Keshet", whose purpose was to encourage young artists.
