נמל יפו, מהעתיקים בעולם, היה הנמל הראשי של ארץ ישראל עד אמצע תקופת המנדט הבריטי. כיום נמל יפו הוא מוקד משיכה לאלפי תיירים מהארץ ומחו"ל.
בתקופת המנדט הבריטי נקבעה בנמל יפו, נקודת איזון, שגובהה נמדד מפני הים. נקודה זו שימשה כייחוס לכל מדידות הגבהים שנעשו בארץ ישראל. המרכז למיפוי ישראל; הארגון הממלכתי למיפוי ומדידות, מבצע עד היום מדידות איזון של מערכת הגבהים הלאומית, כבסיס למדידות לפיתוח ובניה, וזאת באמצעות מריאוגרף (מד גובה פני הים) ונקודת איזון מספר F55, אשר נמצאת בתוך הפירמידה הקטומה שלידכם. בתקופת המנדט שימשה הפירמידה הקטומה כאחד מבסיסי מנוף העברת הסחורות של הנמל.
אביאל רון ז"ל שהיה מנכ"ל המרכז למיפוי ישראל בשנים 1994 עד 2002, הוביל לקביעת קו החוף החוקי של מדינת ישראל. קו זה נקבע באמצעות נקודה F55 ונקודות נוספות, והוא מגדיר את מגבלות הבניה לאורך חופי הים התיכון, הכנרת, ים המלח וים סוף. אביאל רון וילדיו ענת ועופר זכרם לברכה נרצחו בפיגוע במסעדת "מצה" בחיפה" ביום ראשון ג’ בחול המועד פסח תשס"ב, 31 במרץ 2002. אביאל היה ביום הירצחו בן 54, ענת בת 21 ועופר בן 17.5.
עיריית תל אביב-יפו, שגרירות בריטניה בישראל, המרכז למיפוי ישראל, מנהלת נמל יפו והעמותה להנצחת אביאל, ענת ועופר רון, חברו יחד לשחזר, לתעד ולשמר את נקודת הגובה הלאומית הנמצאת באבן שלפניכם, כדי להנציח את פועלו ואת דמותו המיוחדת של אביאל רון.
הוקם באמצעות קרן תל אביב יפו לפיתוח, תשע"ו.

ميناء يافا ، وهو من أقدم المواني في العالم ، كان الميناء الرئيسي لأرض إسرائيل حتى منتصف فترة الانتداب البريطاني ، اليوم ، ميناء يافا هو مكان جذب لآلاف السياح من البلاد وخارجها .
خلال فترة الانتداب البريطاني تم إنشاء نقطة توازن في ميناء يافا ، والتي تم قياس ارتفاعها من مستوى سطح البحر . واستخدمت هذه النقطة كمرجع لجميع قياسات الارتفاعات التي تمت في البلاد . مركز المسح الإسرائيلي التنظيم الوطني الرسمي اللمسح والقياسات يُجري حتى اليوم قياسات توازن لنظام الارتفاعات الوطني . كأساس القياسات التطوير والبناء ، وذلك بواسطة جهاز خاص لقياس مستوى سطح البحر ، ونقطة التوازن المرجعية رقم F55 , التي تقع داخل الهرم المقطوع الذي بجانبكم . خلال فترة الانتداب كإحدى قواعد رافعة نقل البضائع في الميناء الراحل أفيئيل يون الذي كان المدير العام لمركز المسح الإسرائيلي في السنوات 1994 حتى 2002 , قاد الى تحديد الخط الساحلي القانوني لدولة إسرائيل هذا الخطدد بواسطة نقطة F5 وغيرها من النقاط ، والذي يضبط حدود البناء على طول سواحل البحر المتوسطر وبحيرة طبريا ، والبحر الميت والبحر الأحمر . أفينيل رون وأولاده عانات وعوفر رحمهم الله قتلوا في عملية إرهابية في مطعم " ماقسا " في حيفا يوم الأحد الموافق 31 مارس 2002 . أفينيل كان يبلغ من العمر 50 عاما في يوم موته وعنات 24 عاما ، وعوفر 17.5 عاما .

The Jaffa Port, one of the oldest in the world, was the main port of the Land of Israel until the middle of the British Mandate period. Today, Jaffa Port is a magnet for thousands of tourists from Israel and abroad. During the period of the British Mandate, a balancing point was established at the port of Jaffa, whose height was measured from the sea level. This point was used as a reference point to all elevation measurements made in the Land of Israel. The Survey of Israel; The State Organization for Mapping and Measurements has been conducting for years, until nowadays, balance measurements of the national elevation system, as a basis for development and construction-related measurements, by means of a mareograph (sea-level gauge) and a balancing point no. 55, located within the truncated pyramid next to you, which over the course of the British Mandate was used as one of the bases of the port’s crane used for moving goods across the port complex.
The late Ron, who was the director general of the Survey of Israel between 1994 and 2002, led to the determination of Israel’s internationally recognized shoreline, which was established by means of the FS5 point and others, and defines the construction boundaries along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea and the Red Sea.
Aviel Ron and his children, Anat and Ofer, were murdered in the terror suicide bombing in the "Matza" restaurant in Haifa on the Sunday of the 3rd intermediate day of Pesach, 5762, March 31st, 2002. Aviel was 54. Anat, 21, and Ofer, 17.5.
The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, the British Embassy in Israel, the Survey of Israel, the Jaffa Port Administration and the Aviel, Anat and Ofer Ron Commemoration Association, have joined forces to reproduce, document and preserve the national elevation point in the stone in front of you, in order to commemorate Aviel Ron’s work and unique personality.
