Born in Sighetu Marmației, Transylvania (1905-1987), he immigrated to Israel in 1933. Before immigrating to Israel, Friedman studied architecture at the University of Padua in Italy. Friedman holds a Ph.D. For a certain period he joined the office of Meir Rubin and together they designed a number of well-known buildings. Friedman worked mainly in Jerusalem and designed well-known public buildings, including: Yeshurun Synagogue (together with Meir Rubin) , the Great Synagogue , Nait HaMaalot and more. One of the last buildings he designed was the new building of the Yeshivat Merkaz Harav in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood in Jerusalem (together with Meir Rubin)
On the wall of the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem appears the name of Friedman as the architect of the building built in 1982
