Born in Vinnytsia, Ukraine (1887-1953), immigrated to Israel in 1920 after studying at art academies. At first he lived in Jerusalem, and from there he designed houses and public buildings. He established and designed the New York Hotel in Tel Aviv , he also designed the Great Synagogue in Afula and other public buildings. He moved to the United States in 1938 to design models for the New York World’s Fair, where he remained until his death.
