Sign-O-Pedia: Secret arms cache (Slick)

About the tag

Historical BackgroundSlick was a place where weapons were mainly hidden and also other things during the war period during the British Mandate rule in the Land of Israel, this in light of the ban on the possession of weapons. The slicks were mainly used by the " Haganah" underground , but also by the Etzel and the Lehi had their own slicks.

The slicks were in many and varied places, schools , wineries , public buildings and even synagogues .
A large number of "Haganah" Slicks were in the various kibbutzim, where the national Slicks were usually also , and in many cases weapons manufacturing plants

The slicks were camouflaged in different ways, sometimes the place of the slick was a sufficient camouflage (synagogues), sometimes they used places that the British police did not want to enter (a pit for storing cow urine ), sometimes they disguised the place of the slick in other ways (placing pigeons on the ventilation duct of the slick
