בהנהיגו את המאבק בשלטון הבריטי כמפקד הארגון הצבאי הלאומי בשנים 1944-1948, נאלץ מנחם בגין לחיות בשמות בדויים ולשנות את מקום מגוריו מעת לעת.
בתחילת 1947 (תש"ז) עברה משפחת בגין מרחוב יהושע בן נון בצפון תל אביב לדירה הקטנה בקומת הקרקע בבניין זה, בשם הבדוי קניגסהופר, וגרה כאן עד 1977, עת נבחר מנחם בגין כראש הממשלה השישי של מדינת ישראל

During the time he led the struggle against the British as commander of the Irgun Zvai Leumi, Menachem Begin lived under secret identities and changed his residence from time to time.
In 1947’ the Begin family, moved to a small apartment on the ground floor of this building.
The begins lived here at 1 Rosenbaum until 1977 when Menahem Begin was elected as the 6th prime minister of Israel.
