Grain Barn PRODUCE GRANARY
This large-scale stone building was erected in 1912. It was one of eight buildings that made up the cooperative yard, which was designed by architect Alexander Baerwald. On the upper floor, which has an area of 200 square meters, the bulk grains were stored in large cells. On the ground floor, which has the same area, there were warehouses. The barn continued to operate, in a different format, until the end of the twentieth century.
Since 2004, the ground floor has been used as a visitor center called "The Great Yard in Merhavia".
From 1978, the upstairs "Hagoren", a discotheque and pub for the kibbutz youth, operated there, where parties and social gatherings were held. Later, the place was rented as a private entertainment club. On the square and the lawn, in front of the building, holiday events, weddings and musical performances have been held for years.
