טביב עלה בשנת 1909. עמד בראש "רשימת התימנים" בראשון-לציון והיה נציגה בוועד הפועל של המושבה (1919-1925). היה ממקימי "התאחדות התימנים" (1923) וכיהן כסגן יושב ראש ההתאחדות (1923-1948). היה חבר בוועדות ההנהלה הציונית ופעל רבות לטובת יוצאי תימן בנושאי עלייה. קליטה. חינוך והתיישבות.
