On the sign:

Originally a 13th century mediaeval home, the town house was renovated in the first quarter of the 16th century by a member of the Morvilliers family which had been in Blois since the 15th century and had provided a number of royal officials. One of them, Jean de Morvilliers, Bishop of Orleans, Keeper of the Seals and Ambassador in Venice, was born in this house in 1507.
In the right hand corner of the courtyard is a turret. Its door is topped by a large shell, a reminder of the changes made to the mediaeval residence in the Renaissance period.
