The plaque is dedicated to the Russian poet Joseph Brodsky born in Saint Petersburg, Russia (1940-1996), winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature who was expelled from Russia and moved to Venice and from there to the United States where he also died. Brodsky was buried in Venice (in the San Michele cemetery, a year after his death), a city he loved and made sure to visit at least once a year, also thanks to the fact that his wife was born in Italy and it is a city very close to Russia.
