THE EDITOR, JOURNALIST AND WRITER URI AVNERY LIVED IN THIS HOUSE
The sign is on the wall of the building where the editor, writer and Knesset member Uri Avnery (1923-2018) lived Born in Beckum, Germany, immigrated to Israel in 1933. Uri Avnery who is known as the editor and owner of the weekly "HaOlam HaZeh" a weekly whose slogan was "without fear, without bias" which, alongside the yellow press and gossip, exposed corruption scandals, security incidents and more. Avnery, who advocated for individual freedom, equal rights and peace with the Arab people, founded the "HaOlam HaZeh - New Power" party and in 1965 was elected as a member of the Knesset.
