This Syrian tank T-62 was hit from a distance of a few meters by the crew of the tank called the "Shalpan tank" in the village of Ein A-Tina in Lebanon, on the evening of June 9, 1982, the fourth day of the Galilee Peace War.
The "Shelfan tank" was used as a lead tank in the battles against the Syrian armor in the eastern sector of Lebanon.
In view of the excellent performance and the amazing ability shown by the team, the commendation committee decided to award the team a commendation from the brigade commander.
In two critical situations the team decided the fate of the campaign. On Tuesday, June 8, 1982, towards dark, the armored force was halted and stopped by Syrian armor in the mountains south of Jezin.
On Tuesday, June 8, 1982, before dark, the armored force stopped and engaged with Syrian armor in a mountainous area south of Jezin.
The tank commander, the company commander Avi the late, gathered six tanks that continued the momentum of the assault on the axis and controlled it, with the "Shalfan tank" leading the way.
After fighting the Syrian armor, the six-tank force prepared for a night camp but had to face elite Syrian commando forces who attacked it throughout the night. The commando forces smashed into the Israeli tanks, leaving behind them many casualties.
Less than 24 hours later, the tank broke through once more at the head of a small force and destroyed a blockade of Syrian tanks on a vital road, after the force had held back our forces for Wednesday 6/9/82.
Despite the superior location of the Syrian armor despite fighting at ranges of a few meters, the tank managed to destroy the blockade.
During 72 hours of continuous combat, the team destroyed at close range more than ten T-62 tanks as well as Syrian trucks and BMP vehicles carrying Sagger missiles.
The enemy cant beat the tankbut at the end of the battle, after dark, the tank was hit from a very short distance.
