LEGROS Pierre II Paris 1666 - Rome 1719
VÉTURIE OU LE SILENCE OU LA VESTALE MARBRE, 1695 PLACE AU JARDIN DES TUILERRIES EN 1722
One of the statues in the Tuileries Gardens. The statue made by the young Pierre Le Gros depicts Veturia, a Roman noble who lived in the 6th century BC. Veturia was the mother of the Roman general Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus, and according to legend, Veturia saved the city of Rome from her son’s attack.
