[Logo of Appalachian Trail] APPALACHIAN TRAIL MAINE TO GEORGIA
Appalachian Trail You are walking on part of a 2,100-mile footpath which follows the Appalachian chain of mountains and hills. The Trail runs from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine, and of the 3,000-4,000 "Through Hikers" who attempt to traverse the entire route each year, only about 350 usually complete it. Massachusetts 90-mile section is maintained and managed by the AT Committee Volunteers of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Department of Environmental Management Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner Program.
The Appalachian Trail is a hiking trail in the United States with a length of about 3,500 km. The trail began to be marked in 1921 and 16 years later in 1937 they finished marking it.
