The bridge that connects the right bank of the Seine with the left bank, through Ile Saint-Louis (one of the two islands in the river). The bridge built in 1876 and inaugurated in 1877 replaced two bridges that were for pedestrians. The bridge is named after Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully who lived near the bridge (1560–1641).
In the next address that appears on the bridge beams, the names of the factories that were involved in the casting of the bridge appear H.JORET ET CIE CONSTRUCTEURS À PARIS ENTREPRENEURS 1875 FONDERIES DE LA CIE DE TERRE-NOIRE LA VOULTE ET BESSEGES [translating] H.JORET ET CIE CONSTRUCTORS IN PARIS entrepreneurs 1875 THE FOUNDRIES OF LA VOULTE AND BESSESES CIE DE TERRE-NOIRE Click for a larger image
