בבית זה התגורר עם משפחתו הסופר שמואל יוסף (ש"י) עגנון (1970-1887) גדול הסופרים העבריים בעת החדשה וחתן פרס נובל לספרות.
הבית, אשר תוכנן על ידי האדריכל פריץ קורנברג בסגנון מודרני-בינלאומי, נבנה בשנת 1931.
בחדר העבודה, בקומה העליונה של הבית, נמצאת ספריית עגנון, ובחדר הזה נכתבו רוב יצירותיו הידועות של הסופר, ובהן: ״סיפור פשוט", "אורח נטה ללון", "תמול שלשום" ו"שירה".
בשנת 2008 שיפצה עמותת בית עגנון את הבית והוא שוחזר על פי מראהו המקורי.

Nobel Prize Laureate, writer, Shmuel Yosef Agnon (1887-1970), one of the greatest Modern Hebrew writers lived in this house with his family.
Architect Fritz Korenberg designed the house, built in 1931, in a modern-international style.
In the study on the top floor of the home, where Agnon’s library is housed, most of his renowned works were written, among them:" A Simple Story", "A Guest for the Night", "Only Yesterday" and "Shira".
In 2008, the Agnon House Association renovated the house and it has been restored to resemble [its original appearance.]

سكن في هذا المنزل الأديب شموئيل يوسف (شاي) عغنون (1887-1970)، هو وعائلته، وهو أحد أبرز الأدباء العبريين في العصر الحديث وحائز على جائزة نوبل للآداب. (1966)
تم بناء المنزل، الذي صممه المهندس المعماري بريتس كورنبرغ، بطراز معاصر - دولي (باوهاوس)، في العام 1931. في غرفة العمل الواقعة في الطابق العلوي من المنزل وهي مقر مكتبة عفنون ألف عغنون معظم مؤلفاته المشهورة .
في العام 2008 قامت جمعية بيت عفنون بترميم المنزل وقد أعيد ترميمه تماشيا مع مظهره الأصلي.
