Comments:
The sign is on the Zion Gate, one of the gates of the Old City Wall in Jerusalem, a gate through which the forces of the Combat Engineering Corps entered Jerusalem during the Six Day War.

The gate was photographed on the same day by the same photographer (you can see the damage to the wall left by the bullets of the fighting forces) Click for a larger image

Another sign indicating the actions of the Palmach in the War of Independence is located next to this sign Click for sign's details

Translation of the text on the sign:
[engineering corps sergeant]
The gates of the wall were breached
The enemy positions were blown up
And the city was cleared of mines
by the Engineering Corps battalions of the Central Command
