בבית שץ, שנבנה ב-1915, חיו ויצרו כל בני המשפחה עד פטירתו של פרופ’ בוריס שץ ב-1932, וב-1951 חזרו אליו. בעשרים השנים שנעדרו מהארץ התגוררו בבית ויצרו בסטודיו שבו אמנים רבים וביניהם מרדכי ארדון ויעקב שטיינהרט. זהרה הייתה האחרונה מבני שץ שהתגוררה ויצרה בבית עד מותה.

Members of the Schatz family lived and worked in the Schatz house, built in 1915, until the death of Prof. Boris Schatz in 1932, returning to it in 1951. In the 20 years that the family lived abroad, the house was lived in by many artists, including Mordechai Ardon and Yaakov Steinhardt. Zahara was the last of the Schatz family to live and work in the house until her death.

לבוריס שץ ולאשתו, מבקרת האמנות ד"ר אולגה פבזנר, היו שני ילדים, בצלאל וזהרה, שניהם אמנים בזכות עצמם. בצלאל (ליליק) נשא לאישה את הציירת לואיז (מקלור) שץ. ילדי שץ, עם אמנים אחרים, יסדו ב -1951 את הסדנה לאמנות שימושית "יעד". זהרה זכתה ב -1955 בפרס ישראל ובתואר יקירת ירושלים.

Boris Schatz and his wife, the art critic Dr. Olga Pevzner, had two children, Bezalel and Zahara. Both were artists in their own right. Bezalel (Lilik) married the artist Louise (McClure) Schatz. Together with other artists, in 1951 founded the Yaad School for Applied Art. In 1955 Zahara was awarded the Israel Prize and the Worthy of Jerusalem Award.

בוריס שץ תרפ"ז -תרצ"ב
פרופ’ בוריס שץ נולד בקובנה שבליטא ולמד פיסול וציור בפריז. ב-1903 הציע להרצל להקים בית ספר לאמנות ואומנות עברית וב-1906 הקים את בית המדרש ובית הנכות "בצלאל". הציג את התערוכות הראשונות של אמנים ארץ-ישראלים באירופה ובארה"ב. נפטר בארה"ב בעת מסע לגיוס כספים למען בית הספר.

Boris Schatz 1867-1932
Prof. Boris Schatz was born in Kovno, Lithuania, and studied sculpture and painting in Paris. In 1903 he suggested to Herzl setting up a Jewish arts and crafts school, and in 1906 he founded the Bezalel Academy and Museum. He organized the first exhibitions of Eretz Israeli artists in Europe and the USA. Died in the USA during a fundraising trip for the school.
