BEZALEL BUILDINGS THESE TWO BUILDINGS, SURROUNDED BY A CRENELATED WALL, WERE ERECTED IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY IN TYPICAL OTTOMAN STYLE WITH EUROPEAN DETAILS, BY THE FAMILY OF EFFENDI ABU-SHAQER. IN 1906 THEY WERE PURCHASED BY THE JEWISH NATIONAL FUND FOR THE BEZALEL ART SCHOOL, FOUNDED BY BORIS SCHATZ. THE SCHOOL WAS LOCATED HERE UNTIL 1990, WHEN IT MOVED TO MOUNT SCOPUS.

A sign of the Jerusalem "The Built Heritage" series, a project initiated by architectural historian David Kroyanker in 1993, in which buildings of historic value were commemorated in central Jerusalem. The signs were designed by Harel Designers Office, and the logo is in the form of a relief of a rosette window ("Rosetta").
