משפחת אשכנזי, אברהם אשכנזי (1) נולד ביון בשנת 1811 להוריו יעקב ושרה ונפטר בשנת 1880. בשנת 1820 עלתה משפחתו לארץ ישראל ואת מרבית חינוכו קיבל מרבני ירושלים. בשנת 1869 נבחר ע"י רבני ירושלים והוסמך ע"י השלטון התורכי ל"ראשון - לציון" וחכם באשי. הוא רכש את מערת שמעון הצדיק בירושלים, מקום קדוש ליהודים. השר משה מונטיפיורי, בעת ביקורו בירושלים. העניק לרב אשכנזי את גביע הכסף שהוא קיבל עם הקדשה חרותה על פניו, מידי ויקטוריה מלכת אנגליה.

בנו יצחק אשכנזי (2) נולד בשנת 1859 ונפטר בשנת 1915 ונקבר באלכסנדריה. שימש כדרשן רב ומלמד. ניהל את ביה"ח "משגב לדך" בעיר העתיקה. רכש מגרש באוהל משה ובנה את ביתו בשנת .1883 ליצחק נולדו: שלמה, אבהרם, ישראל, לאה ושרה. שניים מבניו גרו באוהל משה.
בכורו שלמה נולד בשנת 1879 ונפטר בשנת 1948, רעייתו הייתה שמחה בת הרב משה מלכא, רבה ומנהיגה של עדת המערביים בעיר. שלמה נתמנה ע"י הנציב העליון הבריטי להיות אחראי על בורות המים בשכונה .(3) צאצאיהם : אסתר, משה, יצחק, מאיר ושמואל .

בנו אברהם נולד בשנה 1900 ונפטר בשנת .1960. נשא לאישה (4) את מרים לבית אנג’ל משפחת אופים ידועה בירושלים. נולדו להם הבנים : יצחק ( זיקו), יעקב, משה ואהרון. גר עד שנת 1934 עם משפחתו בשכונה, בבית שירש מאביו. הגינה הצמודה לבית שימשה בעבר כגינת תבלינים, והייתה ידועה בלאדינו "לָה ווֶרְטָה דִימָרי" (הגינה של מרים). עשרים שנה עבד כמנהל בסניפי דואר בשכונות. מרים, שנודעה כזמרת שירי לאדינו, נפטרה בשנת 1984

Avraham Ashkenazi (1) was born in Greece in 1811 to his parents Yaakov and Sarah, and passed away in 1880. He came to Eretz Israel as a young boy in 1820 and received most of his education at the hands of rabbis in Jerusalem. In 1869 the Turkish authorities and the rabbis of Jerusalem appointed him Rishon Lezion and Hacham Bashi. He acquired the Cave of Simon the Just in Jerusalem, a site held holy by the Jews. During one of his visits to Jerusalem, Sir Moses Montefiore presented Avraham Ashkenazi with the silver cup bearing an engraved dedication that he himself had received from Queen Victoria of England. His son Yitzhak (2) was born in 1859, passed away in 1915, and was buried in Alexandria, Egypt. He served as a preacher, rabbi, and teacher, and also directed the Misgav Ladach Hospital in the Old City. Yitzhak bought a plot of land in the Ohel Moshe quarter and built his home there in 1883. Five children were born to Yitzhak: Shlomo, Avraham, Israel, Leah, and Sarah. Two of his sons lived in the Ohel Moshe quarter. His eldest son, Shlomo, was born in 1879 and passed away in 1948. His wife was Simcha, the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Malka, the rabbi and leader of the Moroccan community in Jerusalem, The British High Commissioner put Shlomo in charge of the water cisterns in the quarler (3). Their children were Esther, Moshe, Yitzhak, Meir, and Shmuel. Avraham was born in 1900 and passed away in 1960. He married Miriam Angel (4) of the well-known family of Jerusalem bakers. They had four sons: Yitzhak (Zaki), Yaakov, Moshe, and Aharon. Until 1934 he and his family lived in Ohel Moshe in the house he inherited from his father. They grew spices in the garden next to the house, which was known by the Ladino name of "La huerta di Marie" ("The Garden of Miriam"). She passed away in 1984
