הרב הגאון המקובל ר’ שלום הדאיה ע"ה (1) נולד בארם צובא בשנת תרכ"ב (1862), ב- 1898 עלה והתיישב ב"אוהל משה", כי לדבריו: " כאן מדברים לאדינו שאיני יודע וכך לא אוכל לשמוע ולדבר לשון הרע". שימש כדיין וכראש המקובלים בישיבת "בית אל" שבעיר העתיקה. נפטר בשנת תש"ה (1944).
יעקב הדאיה

הרב וידאל סורנגה (2) נולד בירושלים בשנת תרל"ב (1872). מגיל צעיר "נשא עיניים" למסחר, שמא יצטרך לעשות תורתו קרדום לחפור בו. ניהל את תלמוד התורה הגדול של העדה משנת תרפ"ב, היה מעסקני הכוללות לעדת הספרדים.

ר’ נסים פראג (אופלטקא) (3) תרנ"ב - תש"ך ( 1892-1960) ניהל את בית-המדרש הגדול בירושלים עד יום נפילתה של העיר העתיקה במלחמת העצמאות. בנה ביתו ב"אוהל משה" והיה מגבאי בית-הכנסת הגדול. עסק בצורכי ציבור, וייסד יחד עם חבריו את הקואופרטיב "אהבה ואחווה", אגודה לעזרה הדדית לסוחרים ולבעלי מלאכה.

הרב הגאון בן ציון קואינקה (4) תרכ"ז-תרצ"ז ( 1936-1867 ) משפחת קואינקה נדדה במאה ה-15 מספרד לסלוניקי ובה התגוררו בניה מאות בשנים, עד שעלו לירושלים במחצית המאה ה-19 והשתקעו בה. בן-ציון יחיד להוריו, נודע כעילוי. בגיל 15 נשא אישה וכעבור זמן עברו לגור ב"אוהל משה". היה ראש ישיבת "תפארת ירושלים", ועם תלמידיו נמנו הראשון-לציון מאיר חי עוזיאל, הרב אליהו פרדס, הסופר יהודה בורלא, וחוקר ארץ-ישראל דוד בנבנישתי. ב -1896 החל לפרסם את "המאסף", כתב-עת תורני שנועד " לישא ליתן בהלכה בכל העניינים והדינים אשר בישוב הארץ יסודן. בכל דיני קדושת הארץ בזמננו...

Symbol of the "Photograph in Stone" project - Ohel Moshe 1882 - JERUSALEM

Rabbi Shalom Hadaya (1) was born in Aleppo in 1862. In 1898 he immigrated to Jerusalem and settled in the Ohel Moshe quarter because, in his own words, "Here they speak Ladino, which I do not know, so I will not be able to hear slander" He served as a member of the religious court and as head of the kablalisis in the Beit El Yeshiva in the Old City. He died in 1944.
Yakov Hadaya

Rabbi Vidal Surnaga (2) was born in Jerusalem in 1872. From an early age he engaged in commerce so as not to be dependent upon his religious education for his livelihood. He directed the Great Talmud Torah of the Sephardic Community.
The Ohel Moshe Centenary

R. Nissim Prague (Oplatka) (3) (1892-1960) directed the Great Beit Midrash in Jerusalem until the fall of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City during the War of Independence (1948). He built his home in the Ohel Moshe quarter and was one of the beadles in its great synagogue. He was active in public affairs.
The Ohel Moshe Centenary

Rabbi Ben-Zion Kuanka (4) 1867-1936. The Kuanka family left Spain in the 15th century and settled down in Thessalonica, Greece, where its members lived for hundreds of years until they immigrated to Jerusalem in the mid 19th century. Ben-Zion, an only son, had a reputation as a prodigy in Talmudic knowledge. He married at the age of 15 and soon afterwards came to live in the Ohel Moshe quarter. He headed the Tifereth Yerushalayim Yeshiva and among his students there were Meir Hai Ouziel, Rabbi Eliyahu Pardes, the author Yehuda Burla, and the researcher of Eretz Israel David Benvenisti. In 1896 he began publishing the religious periodical Hameassef devoted to discussions of religious law.
