עץ ממשפחת הוורדיים, מקור העץ בדרום מזרח סין. לישראל הגיע במאה ה -19, וכיום גדל בכל רחבי הארץ. הפריחה מתחילה בסתיו והפרי, שצורתו סגלגלה וצבעו צהוב, נקטף בחודשים אפריל-מאי. לפרי גרעינים שחורים גדולים.

Loquat
Scientific name: Eriobotrya japonica
A tree from the Rosaceae family, the source of the tree in southeastern China. It came to Israel in the 19th century, and today it grew up all over the country. Flowering begins in autumn and the fruit, which is oval in shape and yellow in color, is picked in April-May. The fruit has large black seeds.
