עץ ממשפחת האלתיים. עץ טרופי, שמקור העץ בסין ובהודו, שם גודל כבר בימי קדם. לישראל הגיע בתחילת המאה ה-20. העץ פורח באביב. הפרי מבשיל בחודשים יוני - ספטמבר. הזן הפופולארי, מנגו מאיה, פותח במכון וולקאני בשנות ה-30 של המאה ה 20. צבע הפרי בצד החצוני ירוק-כתום, בפנים כתום, הגרעין לבן גדול.

Scientific name: Mangifera indica
A tree from the Anacardiaceae family (the cashew family). Tropical tree, which originated in China and India, where it has been grown since ancient times. It arrived in Israel at the beginning of the 20th century. The tree blooms in spring. The fruit ripens in June-September. The popular variety, Mango Maya, was developed at the Volcanic Institute in the 1930s. The color of the fruit on the outside is green-orange, on the inside is orange, the core is large white.
