עץ ממשפחת התותיים. נמנה על אחד משבעת המינים של ארץ ישראל. יש עדויות ארכיאולוגיות לגדילתו בא"י לפני 5000 שנה. פירותיו נאכלים טריים ומיובשים, על התאנה נאמר: התאנה חנטה פגיה. התאנה מלבלבת באביב ועונת הפרי משתרעת מאפריל-אוקטובר. לקטיף התאנים קוראים - ארִיָה הפרי ירוק או סגול בחוץ ולבן בפנים.

Common fig
Scientific name: Ficus carica
A tree from the Moraceae family. It is one of the seven species of the Land of Israel. There is archeological evidence of its growth in Israel 5000 years ago. Its fruits are eaten fresh and dried, the fig is said to be: the fig has a prickly pear. The fig blooms in spring and the fruiting season lasts from April to October. The fig harvest is called Ariya (in Hebrew). The fruit is green or purple on the outside and white on the inside.
