[Historical photography: The Elite Factory, in 1939]

Elite Factory
Established at the outskirts of Ramat-Gan in 1933 by Eliahu Frumchenko, who brought chocolate-making machines with him from Lithuania.
H.N. Bialik, who lived in Ramat-Gan at the time, suggested the name "Elite", which had a cosmopolitan ring to it.
The first years were difficult for the factory, which had to contend with the low-priced import of candy fröm the British Empire. Upon the outbreak of the Second World War, the country was isolated and the low-priced imports stopped. From that point on, a path was paved to the factory’s meteoric success.
The factory became a landmark at the city entrance, and the square, which is officially called "Kikar HatZionut". (Zionist Square), is mainly referred today as the "Elite Junction.
