SHAUL TCHERNICHOWSKY
LIVED & WORKED AT 89 AHAD HA’AM ST

The sign is in the house where Shaul Tchernichovsky lived - poet and translator, born in Mykhailovka, Ukraine (1875-1943), immigrated to Israel in 1931 (before that he visited Israel in 1925).
Tschernihovsky was also a doctor, completing his medical studies in Germany and Switzerland.
He was one of the greatest poets in Israel, and was also engaged in translating (Iliad and Odyssey).

In the last year of his life, due to his illness, he moved to Jerusalem where he also died
