In the center of the plaque is the emblem of Princeton University, and around it appears the informal motto of the university: In the Nations Service and the service of Humanity. The plaque was placed on the 270th anniversary of the founding of the university (1746) As mentioned on the plaque, the motto is attributed to President Woodrow Wilson, who before his presidency was president of the university, and to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor who studied law at Princeton University and made history as the first Hispanic judge.
