THE PIANIST AND EDUCATOR LEO KESTENBERG LIVED & WORKED IN THIS HOUSE
The sign is in the place where Leo Kestenberg lived - pianist, born in Rozumbruk, Slovakia (1882-1962), immigrated to Israel in 1939. He gave his first concert in Berlin in 1906, and also taught at the Higher School of Music in Berlin. Upon his immigration to Israel, he was appointed the musical director of the Philharmonic Orchestra. He also founded the seminary for music educators (Midrasha le mechanchim leMusica) which he also managed. Won the Engel Prize on behalf of the Municipality of Tel Aviv (1958). It is known that already in 1953 (and maybe before) he lived in this house.
