Born in Bitz, Germany (1822-1901). One of the most important scholars of the Land of Israel in the 19th century. A Protestant missionary who worked in Jerusalem, where he was also buried (Mount Zion). In 1846 he moved to Jerusalem, where he did much archeology and mapping of the city of Jerusalem. (An example of his work in archeology can be found in Emmaus Nicopolis ). Schick designed buildings and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, including the Mea Shearim neighborhood, the Hansen House in Talbiyeh , the Shaare Zedek Hospital, and more.
