Born in Sokyriany, Bessarabia (1892-1960), immigrated to Israel in 1918. He worked in the 1920s and 1930s in the Land of Israel, and then sculpted a number of sculptures that expressed the events that took place at that time. The best known statue is the "Roaring Lion" statue located in Kfar Giladi and used as a monument to the fallen of the Battle of Tel Hai, including Yosef Trumpeldor. In the 1930s he moved to England where he focused on sculpting the portraits of celebrities, returning to Israel in 1959.
