YEHUDA RUBINSTEIN AND HIS WIFE NAT-ZION RUBINSTEIN "HABIMA" NATIONAL THEATER ACTORS LIVED IN THIS HOUSE
The sign is on the wall of the building where they lived: Yehuda Rubinstein - theater actor, born in Russia (1890-1968), immigrated to Israel in 1928. He began performing at the "Habima" theater in Moscow back in 1920, and later continued in Israel.
Bat-Zion Rubinstein - theater actress, probably born in Russia (1895-1982), immigrated to Israel in 1928. She began performing at the "Habima" theater in Moscow back in 1920, but shortly after immigrating to Israel, she retired from her acting career.
The house they lived in was part of the workers’ dormitories, buildings built at the initiative of the Histadrut, built in the international style and inhabited by Histadrut activists and artists. The area was also called the "Habima neighborhood" because of the large number of actors who lived in the area.
Today, the building houses "Beit Livik", a center for Yiddish culture.
