PARIS BIODIVERSITY
TREES WITH FLESHY FRUITS
Trees and shrubs & fleshy fruits produce pulp fruits: drupes (with stones) or bales. Planting regional species preferably encourages the arrival of animal species naturally present in the territory:
Insects and larvae of phytophagous insects, such as butterfly caterpillars, feed on the foliage of trees and shrubs;
Nectarivores insects are delighted by the early flowering of fruit trees:
Birds and frugivorous or omnivorous mammals such as the Fox (Vulpes vulpes) and the Stone Marten (Martes foina) seek out the fleshy fruits of these trees:
Grainivorous birds and rodent mammals such as the Bank Vole (Clethrionomys glareolus) and the Wood Mouse (Apodemus syivaticus) appreciate their seeds (pips, pits, etc.).
