The monument commemorates the soldiers who fell in defense of the KKL-JNF House, in the War of Liberation. The place that controlled the road between Jaffa and Jerusalem was a strategic place to ensure traffic to Jerusalem, and therefore a focal point for attacks by the Arabs.
The Palmach and Haganah forces defended the place, followed by IDF units.
4 soldiers fell in the battles, and another 10 who defended the place and fell in other battles, and the monument commemorates them.
