The English Heritage Trust is a charity that cares for over 400 historical buildings, monuments and other places.

The sign is on the wall of the house where the writer Mervyn Peake (1911-1968) lived in the last years of his life. Peake, who was also a poet and painter, is best known for the Gormenghast series of fantasy books he wrote.
