HERE FELL DETECTIVE SERGEANT RAYMOND PURDY 13TH JULY 1959
The plaque marks the spot where DS-DETECTIVE SERGEANT Raymond Purdy was killed. Purdy and his partner on duty, went down to South Kensington tube station to arrest a suspect. As soon as they got to the street, the arrested person ran away, and in that place, hid behind a pillar, then in his arrest he pulled out a gun and shot Raymond Purdy to death.
The sign was placed on July 13, 2019, the 60th anniversary of the policemans death.
