קיבוץ יפעת הוקם בשנת 1954 על ידי איחוד בין קבוצת השרון ברמת דוד לבין מחצית מחברי קיבוץ גבת, שעבר פילוג אידיאולוגי.
השם הסמלי של היישוב מבטא את חן המקום בעיני חבריו ותושביו.
ביפעת חיים ביחד חברי הקיבוץ ותושבי ההרחבה הקהילתית, המטפחים יחד ערכי קהילה מבוססי תמיכה הדדית, חינוך איכותי, חיי תרבות ושמירה על איכות הסביבה.
הודות למוזיאון העמק, בית הספר התיכון ’העמק המערבי’ ואולם התרבות האזורי, מהווה יפעת מרכז תרבותי וחינוכי בעמק יזרעאל.

Kibbutz Yifat was established in 1954 by a union between the Sharon group in Ramat David and half of the members of Kibbutz Gvat, which underwent an ideological split.
The symbolic name of the settlement expresses the charm of the place in the eyes of its members and residents.
In Yifat, the members of the kibbutz and the residents of the community extension live together, who together cultivate community values ​​based on mutual support, quality education, cultural life and preservation of the quality of the environment.
Thanks to the Emek Museum, the ’Western Valley’ High School and the Regional Cultural Hall, Yifat is a cultural and educational center in the Jezreel Valley.
