Comments:
Commemorative statue of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis (1835-1768), one of the great heroes of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire. Miaoulis , who was born on the island of Hydra, was a captain of the merchant fleet, and therefore was chosen to lead the naval forces of the islands in the uprising.

Miaoulis was buried in Piraeus, but his bones were moved to the place where his statue is located.

The statue was photographed on the same day by the same photographer Click for a larger image Click for a larger image
