THE FORMER ROYAL INFIRMARY
Built originally as a bank with a grand Doric portico in 1825, it later converted to become Stirling’s first infirmary in 1874. There was great concern that the ’fever ward’ might bring infectious diseases into the town and they had to be treated elsewhere. Not until 1928 was a purpose built infirmary erected at Livilands.
