MAYOR AUSTER Here resided Daniel Auster (1893-1963), member of the Temporary People’s Assembly, a 40-member council established in April 1948 by the World Zionist Organization to prepare the establishment of the State of Israel, and a signatory of the Declaration of Independence. Served as the Mayor of Jerusalem, 1937-1938, 1944-1945, 1948-1951.
The sign shape is rectangular but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel
