Théâtre Daunou La rue Daunou a été percée en 1806 pour prolonger la rue Saint-Augustin, à travers le jardin du couvent détruit des Capucines. En 1920, lactrice Jeanne Renouardt y fait édifier, sur les dessins dArmand Rateau, un petit théâtre de 350 places au décor conçu par Lanvin, blanc et or, tapissé de velours bleu. ll est inauguré avec un succès qui tient laffiche deux ans, "Ta Bouche", opérette de Maurice Yvain et Yves Mirande. Les plus grands acteurs y ont joué: Harry Baur, Fernand Gravey, Raymond Rouleau, Sophie Desmarets, Madeleine Robinson, Louis de Funés et Jacqueline Maillan, entre autres. Les frères Jacques sy sont également produits.
One of the series of signs describing historical places in Paris. The signs were placed starting in 1992 and are also called sucettes Starck (Starck’s Lollipops) after Philippe Starck who designed them.
The sign describes the Daunou Theater, a theater that has existed since 1920 and where some of the top actors played. As you can see in the photos, the theater building was undergoing a thorough renovation when it was photographed.

History of Paris
Théâtre Daunou Rue Daunou was opened in 1806 to extend Rue Saint-Augustin, through the garden of the destroyed Capucines convent. In 1920, the actress Jeanne Renouardt had a small 350-seat theater built there, based on designs by Armand Rateau, with decor designed by Lanvin, white and gold, upholstered in blue velvet. It was inaugurated with a success that ran for two years, "Ta Bouche", an operetta by Maurice Yvain and Yves Mirande. The greatest actors have played there: Harry Baur, Fernand Gravey, Raymond Rouleau, Sophie Desmarets, Madeleine Robinson, Louis de Funés and Jacqueline Maillan, among others. Les Frères Jacques also performed there.
