The statue of the journalist and lawyer Georges Danton (1759-1794) who was one of the leaders of the French Revolution.
Danton, who as the Minister of Justice had a significant part in the mass executions that happened in the revolution, was finally accused of treason and executed.
The statue made by Auguste Paris was made for the centenary celebrations of the French Revolution in 1889.
The statue shows Danton giving a speech while two armed young men look at him, and it was placed where Denton’s house used to be.
